Publication on 20 years of FREISCHWIMMEN
In order to professionalize, young talent in the independent performing arts in particular needs spaces for artistic development, networking, trust, sustainable production structures and international visibility. FREISCHWIMMEN, the platform for dance, theater and performance in German-speaking countries, has made all of this possible since its founding in 2004 across the borders between Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Together with the artists of recent years, we have produced a publication for the 20th anniversary of FREISCHWIMMEN that looks back on the development of the platform from a touring festival to a production platform and the artists, groups and venues involved!
FESTIVALFRIENDS
A festival association of the independent performing arts in Germany
The festival alliance currently comprises 12 festivals of the independent performing arts community, including the rodeo Festival organized by HochX. Together, we share knowledge and experience from our own festival work and strengthen the development and expansion of festival structures across federal states. We see our local festivals as supra-regional and international platforms and as important sources of inspiration for contemporary artistic practices and aesthetics. A central concern of ours is to bring artists and their positions beyond their local sphere of influence into new regions and contexts.

Publication on FestivalFriends (2024)
In the publication WORK FROM SCRATCH, WORK ON EDGE? from 2024, the festivals provide polyphonic insights into the realities of festival work in the independent performing arts. It also includes the article by Ute Gröbel and Antonia Beermann, “The freedom to say yes. Why festivals need stable structures” (p.45 – 47).
MÜNCHEN IST KULTUR
Alliance for culture in Munich
MiK is an interdisciplinary alliance of Munich artists and cultural institutions that was founded in fall 2024 in the face of the almost nationwide wave of cuts. The aim is to create stabilizing structures for the art and culture scene.
We emphasize the importance of art and culture as a visionary and democracy-promoting force and are committed to protecting the artistic freedom enshrined in the German constitution. We also advocate appropriate funding that enables professional and sustainable work. We position ourselves against an ideological narrowing of the concept of culture and advocate diversity and inclusion.

DIE VIELEN
Solidarity network for an open, diverse and democratic society
Cultural institutions in Germany and Austria are connected in the solidarity network of DIE VIELEN as signatories of regional declarations. The declarations help the networked institutions to position themselves on racist and discriminatory incidents and to counter the hostility against intellectuals, artists, POCs and LGBTQs with a common will to shape the future.
