New projects for 2026
Dear Munich artists and collectives: Are you planning a project for 2026 and would like to submit an application for project or debut funding to the Cultural Department of the City of Munich by 2 June? Then get in touch with Ute Gröbel by May 15 with a project outline and (if available) a calculation. We will advise you on realisation possibilities at HochX, give you feedback on your application and, if necessary, issue you with a letter of intend (LOI). Unfortunately, requests received after 15 May can no longer be considered.
Producing at HochX
HochX is a platform for the independent dance and theater scene. We do not create our own productions, but provide professional conditions for independent artists and collectives to work on and show their performances. Are yo interested in actualizing your project with us?
You can find all the information you need here – either as a detailed guide to download or as FAQs:
Guide Producing at HochX
FAQ Producing at HochX
Can I realise my project at HochX?
Yes, as long as it is a professional independent production that has applied for or already received funding. Alternatively, the HochX can also be hired as an event venue (information on this can be found here).
When should I get in touch?
As early as possible! The planning lead time is approx. 12 months. If an application deadline for funding is approaching, please contact Ute Gröbel or Anna Donderer, the artistic directors of HochX, at least three weeks in advance.
Do I get a letter of intend (LOI)?
Yes, but only after we have talked about your project. We provide feedback on the concept, calculation and organisation. The commitment in the certificate refers to the entire season; specific dates will only be set once funding has been approved.
How do I apply for funding?
The Tanzbüro and Theaterbüro München advise on all matters relating to producing in the independent performing arts. Please make use of their workshops and possibility to get advice on funding, e.g. if you have questions about funding opportunities: Click here for the Theaterbüro and here for the Tanzbüro.
What happens after a successful funding application?
If your funding application is successful, you will get in touch with HochX again. Specific stage dates will then be set together. As soon as the date has been set, you will be invited to a production meeting by Tabea Hopmans (production) and Dennis Schmidt (tech department) 10-12 weeks before your stage time to discuss all the details.
Premises, technical equipment and other matters
Are there rehearsal rooms available?
The HochX has 4 rehearsal rooms that can be hired depending on availability (price on request, information can be found here).
How big is the theatre space?
Maximum 134 spectators (depending on seating), the foyer can hold 50 people. Plans are available here.
What technical equipment is available?
The Sound, lighting and video equipment at HochX are available free of charge. An overview can be found here. Additional equipment can be hired from the technical department of the Cultural Department on your own cost.
What about technical support?
HochX provides a technician (10 hours) to support the basic set-up of funded projects and a technician for dismantling (up to 5 hours). Further technical support must be provided by the production. The production must have its own technical contact person.
What is important when using the rooms?
When you come to our house, you will receive our house rules together with the key. Basically: be nice to other people, clear away your rubbish and follow the instructions of the HochX staff.
Contract
What does the contract with HochX cover?
The contract regulates stage times, the terms of use, liability regulations for the house and production as well as legal matters such as fees and taxes.
What is production responsible for?
You are usually the organiser, so you are responsible for permits, performance rights, fees (GEMA, KSK etc.) and insurance for those performing on stage.
What is the distribution of income from ticket sales?
HochX takes care of the ticketing for the subsidised projects. In the end, 70% of the proceeds go to the production and 30% to HochX. Advance ticket sales begin on the 1st of the previous month via www.rausgegangen.de.
What are the ticket prices?

20 € Regular price
