Transtopie

As part of Tanzplattform Deutschland 2020, Munich‘s independent dance scene is offering three performative city walks during which the venues and open spaces of local artists will be presented. First the Artistic Walk The Land’s Heart is Greater Than Its Map by ivo theatre (London) will take you from Gasteig to HochX. The project explores the politics and power of tour guiding and questions who has the authority to give a coherent narrative of a city and how we are able to come into contact with the ‘real’ essence of a place.

At HochX you are invited to join the performative symposium titled Transtopie (transtopia): in brief keynote presentations and performative demonstrations, local artists use different approaches to tap into socially permeable spaces through political art.

Die freie Münchner Tanzszene bietet im Rahmen der Tanzplattform Deutschland drei performative Stadtspaziergänge an, die FreiRäume von und mit lokalen Künstler*innen vorstellen.

Am 5. März führt das britische Theaterkollektiv ivo theatre die Teilnehmer*innen in ihrem künstlerischen Spaziergang The Land’s Heart Is Greater Than Its Map vom Gasteig zum HochX und webt dabei eine ganz eigene Art der Mythologie des Blicks. Der Spaziergang mündet in das performative Symposium Transtopie: In kurzen Impulsvorträgen und performativen Demonstrationen beleuchten lokale Künstler*innen und Choreograph*innen unterschiedliche Ansätze, durch politische Kunst gesellschaftlich durchlässige Räume aufzuspannen. Wie entstehen Strukturen, die Veränderung möglich machen?

Sandra Chatterjee’s (PhD, UCLA) choreographic and scholarly work is situated at the intersection of theory and practice deals with performance, dance, and the body with a focus on gender, postcolonial and migration studies. In her research she has been critically interrogating the aesthetic category of the „contemporary“ in the context dance in Europe. Additional (research) interests include (artistic) collaboration, and the possible intersection of artistic practice, civil engagement and cultural and artistic citizenship. Currently, she is part of the research team of the FWF-funded project Border Dancing across Time
(P 31958-G) at the University of Salzburg. She is also the choreographer of the performance no smell in outer space (2019), founding member of the Post Natyam Collective and the co-initiator and co-organizer of CHAKKARS – Postmigrantische und Postkoloniale Interventionen im und durch Tanz (together with Sarah Bergh).

Alessandro Pintus (NON Company) and Alexander Wenzlik (asperformance) are working since 2017 with semi-professional dancers from all around Europe on Apocalisse Nova: A Butoh Dance choreographic project inspired by the masterpiece of the Renaissance painter Luca Signorelli, placed in the Nova Chapel at the Orvieto Cathedral in Italy.

Since the Renaissance represented a revolution in the European culture, with this project they investigate the need for a new Renaissance today, that gives us the opportunity to transform the way we consider art in relation to society. They believe that every artistic revolution has something in common with the meaning of the Apocalypse as a “Revelation” of different ways to conceive body, space and time.

In their talk they will give an introduction to their working method and a perspective on how to exist and survive as independent Butoh Artists in this dance society and in our modern culture.

Taigué Ahmed works as a choreographer, dancer and artistic director in Chad, Germany, France and Canada. At the age of 13 he became a member of the National Ballet of Chad (traditional dance), took professional trainings at the Ecole des Sables in Senegal and the Centre National de la Danse in Paris/France, before starting to train young dancers in N’Djamena. In 2005 he founded the organization Ndam Se Na that supports artistic and pedagogical dance projects in Chad.

In 2014 he conducted the project Atelier Nomade with the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris and worked with young people and women in the suburbs of Clichy-sous-Bois/France and Montfermail/France for four weeks. He taught dance courses for children and refugees in Germany (Munich and Hamburg) and Canada (Montréal and Arcadie). Afterwards he participated in the festival AFRICTIONS – captured by dance in Germany where he presented his new creation, the duo Abbanay Abbanay. In 2015 Taigué Ahmed presented together with Sarah Israel their performance Laissez-moi… Eine Blickstörung in Munich/Germany.

In 2018 his play Waignedeh was premiered at the Tanzhaus NRW in Düsseldorf and the Munich Kammerspiele. Taigué Ahmed is co-founder of the dance festival SOUAR in N’Djamena that takes place every year in December.
